(70th birthday)

“As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is AUTHENTICITY.

As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody as I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it RESPECT.

As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it MATURITY.

As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment, so I could be calm. Today I call it SELF-CONFIDENCE.

As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it SIMPLICITY.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything the drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism.Today I know it is LOVE OF ONESELF.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is MODESTY.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it FULFILLMENT.

As I began to love myself I recognized that my mind can disturb me and it can make me sick. But As I connected it to my heart, my mind became a valuable ally. Today I call this connection WISDOM OF THE HEART.

We no longer need to fear arguments, confrontations or any kind of problems with ourselves or others. Even stars collide, and out of their crashing new worlds are born. Today I know THAT IS LIFE!”

All the best to you.  Xoxo,

4 Selling Words

DaniVox-copy2When writing copy for your blog, newsletter, facebook or twitter post, do you ever think about the tone or how it will come across?  How your audience feels?  How you want them to feel from reading your copy?  What is it you would like to communicate?

It’s something I have been thinking more and more about lately as I have made my newsletter a frequent offering.  I have noticed that even in my blogs I tend to obsess over using one word over another.  ”Cheers!”  over “xoxo”  Even though the words may communicate the same action, in this case the closing of a blog,  using one word or phrasing over another could create a different feeling.

For example:
“It appears to me that…” and “I am convinced that”  See a difference?

There are a few great SELLING words that can help your copy as well.  In an article by Gregory Ciotti, he researched the top five persuasive words in English.  His list is not suprising and yet the research behind it is pretty powerful.

You: or your name is something that is so easy to be forgotten and yet so important for great communication.

Free: Gregory explains the principle of loss aversion. All of us naturally go for the lowest hanging fruit and free triggers.

Because: Because is probably as dangerous as it is useful. Creating a causal relationship is incredibly persuasive: “even giving weak reasons have been shown to be more persuasive than giving no reason at all.”

Instantly: If we can trigger something immediately, our brain jumps on it!  Words like “instant,” “immediately,” or even”fast” are triggers for flipping the switch on that mid-brain activity.”

Do you consider the copy you have written before you make a post?

Thank you for the love,

The 5 ‘WHY’s’ Your Clients Need to Know

keep-calm-and-but-why-DVPicture this… a potential client stumbles upon your product or service.  Yay!  Awesome!  But what is it that makes them buy?  What is it that makes them choose to work with you?

I have found that it doesn’t matter what industry you are in there are 5 things your clients, and potential clients, want to know about you and by knowing these 5 things creates the confidence in your brand and what you are selling.  Fulfilling these “5 Why’s” could also help you make a sale faster!

1. Why You? (the potential client)
Addressing WHY your client, or potential client should work with you by being clear in your content for the product or service you are selling and what the offer is you are making. This content should relay why the reader is targeted to, and suited for what you have to offer.  Basically, why is this important to them?  Why is this copy, product, or service perfect for them?

2. Why Me? (the person offering the service)

Your credentials are SUPER important to build credibility and lower buyer resistance.  You may be thinking, “My product/service speaks for itself!  Why would I need to tell them about my experience and background?”   Well, it;s about what sets you apart from the competition.  Whether you’re an accredited expert or not, the more reasons you give, the more credible you are, and the more chance you have for people who are going to buy from you.  In the mind of your client,  you are the expert on this subject. Use your unique credibility and experience as a major selling point.

3. Why This?

Why do they need your product/service?  Are you selling this product just to make money?  Maybe!  But whether making money is the main reason or not, either directly or indirectly, your product or service exists.  Don’t assume your happy little potential client knows exactly why they need your product, no matter how trivial you may think it is, if you don’t include somewhere WHY this product/service in your copy, left to their own devices your potential clients will be the ones making assumptions.

For example: Why should someone have voice over included in their next marketing campaign?  Why should someone choose your photography studio over another?  Why should someone buy your coffee?  You dont have to actually put these questions out there, just give them the answers.

4. Why Now?

“Without a sense of urgency, desire loses its value.”  Whether it’s direct or implied, adding scarcity and reasons to act now is important.

But by itself, urgency is almost always suspect. So back it up with reasons why your readers should act now. Don’t be shy in explaining why they must take advantage of the offer immediately, or what the consequences are if they don’t.  (this may not apply to all services)

5. Why This Price?

Its possible your price is based on the industry average.  Or you’re giving some sort or discount to make way for new stock.  Maybe your product is new and you’re offering an introductory price.  Don’t be afraid to tell your customers why they should pay what you’re asking for.  Why is it valuable to them? Compare your price to the ultimate cost of either buying an alternative (perhaps even competing) product, or not buying your product at all.

Gosh I love this stuff!  I hope this adds some info into your already “Copy Minded” brain.  :o)

The 10 Commandments of Being a Good Actor

Dani Vox_BackstageLogo

The 10 Commandments of Being a Good Actor

DaniVox_Secret Agent ManI. Thou Shalt Not Settle
Too many actors settle for being good when they have the potential to be great.

II. Thou Shalt Not Lose Track of the Big Picture
Actors tend to fixate on short-term details, like finding a good agent and getting the perfect headshot. That’s fine, but the career path you choose will be determined by your long-term goals.

III. Thou Shalt Learn How to Network
Knowing how to meet and interact with industry professionals is an essential skill.

IV. Thou Shalt Be Realistic
When you’re just starting out and you don’t have many credits, don’t ask your agent to get you an audition for the lead in a network pilot. There’s nothing wrong with aiming high, but you can’t lose yourself in the clouds.

V. Thou Shalt Learn to Shut Up
Actors spend way too much time listening to the sound of their own voice. Try keeping quiet every now and then, especially when you’re talking to people in the industry. Who knows? You might actually learn something.

VI. Thou Shalt Question the Source
Don’t believe everything you hear. You know the actor in class who’s half as talented as you but claims he booked a pilot? He’s lying. The guy’s actually doing a Web series that his girlfriend is financing with the money she made dancing at Crazy Horse.

VII. Thou Shalt Learn to Say No
You don’t have to jump on every opportunity that comes your way. I’m talking about the manager who lives out of his car and wants to sign you. I’m also talking about that nonunion film that expects you to perform full frontal nudity.

VIII. Thou Shalt Take Chances
You took a huge risk when you decided to become an actor. So why not keep that daredevil spirit alive as you pursue your career?

IX. Thou Shalt Be Mentally Healthy
Rejections aren’t personal. Your ego doesn’t control your life. And strangers do not have the power to crush your dreams. (Only you can do that.)

X. Thou Shalt Get a Life
Never put life on hold for your career. If acting is based on life experience, how can you be a great actor when you have no life?

Hope this helps!!

Much Love,

3 Ways to Get What You Want

DaniVox_Marie Forleo

I love me some Marie TV!

I found Marie Forleo sometime in November when I was ramping up some business ideas for 2013 and while closing out everything for 2012.  And just in time!  If you dont subscribe to any other email, YOU SHOULD SUBSCRIBE to Marie Forleo.

Talk about a wealth of information, valuable experience,  and get-up-and-go inspiration!  Which brings me to the topic of Getting What You Want.

Ms Marie!  did a great video, “How To” style on how to get what you want.  You can watch the free video by clicking on this like –>  How To Get What You Want Video by Maris Forleo

How to Get What You Want (my notes on the video)

STEP 1: How to trigger Universal Magic:

-First and foremost you must decide what you want.  Decide what that is and commit to it!  The decision comes first!
-You are constantly creating your reality with the universe with your daily decisions—your thoughts, language, and behavior. So when you make a decision, you initiate the creative process from the inside out and once you take action on that decision the Universe bends to support you!
-There is NO room for wishy-washy kinda-sorta thinking.  YOU HAVE TO BE 100 % COMMITTED!

STEP 2: How to Break Free From the Habit of Self-Deception

- Eliminate your excuses.  When you say
“I Can’t” it usually means “I Won’t”
- You are 100% responsible for your results
- FACT! We all get the same 24 hours a day.  Its the only level playing field in all of humanity.

STEP 3: Everything is Figureoutable!

-Take action now because results and clarity come from engagement not thought.
-Do the Brainstorming Exercise in the video.  This works for everything!!!

Faith: Faith is the single most important intangible ingredient.

1. Having Faith means you tap into the power and strength of God or The Universe.  This beautiful and magical force is available and ready for us all.
2. Faith removes the pressure, stress , anxiety and arrogance of thinking that you produce everything on your own.  ”You’re the faucet, God’s the water.” –Marianne Williamson

Open yourself up.  I am a channel, I am a vehicle.

“You are never given a DREAM without also being given the POWER to make it come true.” -Richard Bach

Decide.  Commit.  Do it.  You CAN!
